Signs your liver may be toxic

15 signs that your liver is STRESSED

fatigue
brain fog
headaches
chronic joint or muscle pain
digestion issues including gas, heartburn, bloating, diarrhea or constipation, and abdominal pain
insomnia
autoimmune diseases
hormonal imbalances like PMS or menopausal symptoms
acne or skin rashes
anxiety or depression
allergies
inflammation
chemical sensitivities
chronic bad breath
weight gain

It’s your liver’s job to distinguish between the nutrients you need to absorb and the dangerous or unnecessary substances that must be filtered out of your bloodstream. But when the liver is clogged and overwhelmed with toxins, it can’t do a very effective job of processing nutrients and fats. So if you’re concerned with managing your weight, remember this important point: The more toxic your body becomes, the more difficulty you’ll have losing weight and keeping it off.

Cleansing the liver helps it produce better, more efficient bile. That helps your body flush toxins and break down fat more effectively. It also makes more energy-giving nutrients available to your body and reduces strain on your digestive and immune systems. Your elimination improves, and your colon is relieved of unnecessary burdens. The net effect: You look and feel better, and it becomes far easier for you to achieve and maintain your ideal weight.

The Art of Having No Goals

Sometimes, making goals can become a tedious task. Of course, it's always ideal to set a goal, work on it, and accomplish it. But, there are times when this isn't always the scenario. There are times when you set a goal, work on it, and fail to accomplish it. There's even the last scenario where you set a goal, and don't even get as far as working on it before you forget about it.

The other day, I ran across a great email about the art of making no goals. There are just moments in your life when you need a break.
So, what does having no goals look like? Do you just lay around all day, be lazy, and eat whatever you want? I think that the author of the post wrote it the best :

"No, you simply do. You find something you're passionate about, and do it. Just because you don't have goals doesn't mean you do nothing – you can create, you can produce, you can follow your passion.  And in practice, this is a wonderful thing: you wake up and do what you're passionate about."

For me, here's what I ended up with:
Family Time

Having no goals and focusing on my passion allows me to focus on what's important. I enjoy life because I'm always doing something I'm excited about. But whether I achieve or not isn't the point at all: all that matters is that I'm doing what I love, always.
I end up in places that are wonderful, surprising, great. I just didn't know I would get there when I started!

Today, find out what you are passionate about and just DO!

Bikini Body Drink

Are you getting ready for swim season?  DRINK UP!  Hydration is key when you are working out.  80% of our cells are made of water.  Tired of drinking water?  Change it up with this great tea recipe and ditch the sugary sodas and bottled teas.

BENEFITS OF TEAS
Fat Burning - A study of oolong tea suggests that a mix of caffeine and antioxidants increases the number of calories you burn by approximately 3 percent over 24 hours.  What's even better is that some of these extra calories might come from stored fat, according to the study!

Strong Body -  Several studies have linked regular tea consumption to higher bone density, helping to reduce you risk of fractures as you age.  Tea also exhibits anti-inflammatory effects which may help damaged tissue hear more quickly.

Strawberry-Peach Rooibos Tea
Ready in 2 hours and 15 min* Makes 4 servings

4 1/4 cups water
8 roobios tea bags
1 large ripe peach sliced (about a cup)
1 cup sliced strawberries, plus 4 berries for garnish

1) In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil

2) Turn off heat, add tea bags and steep for 5 min

3) Add peach and strawberries to a pitcher.  Discard tea bags and add tea.

4) Chill for 2 hours or up to 1 day.  Serve over ice and garnish with a strawberry.

The case for a FIT marriage

One of the most important component of achieving our health goals are our loved ones.  They help support us, motivate us, grill for us, and can even babysit for us.

In our marriage, Casey and I have found that fitness is an important component in our marriage and plays a pivotal role in keeping our marriage healthy.  Granted, we've only been married for 6 years now, but we've found that being healthy really creates an atmosphere in our marriage that helps its foundation.  Here's our case for why staying fit = a healthier marriage.

My hubby and I
1)  According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise boosts your mood.  "Physical activity stimulates various chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed."

Let's face it, marriage isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world.  There will be LOTS of ups and downs.  And the more "feel good hormones" you have, the more relaxed you are when tough times come.

2)  Engaging in physical activity burns calories.  Therefore exercise helps with weight management.  The closer you are to a healthier weight, the better you feel about yourself, which results in feeling more confident about yourself.  Of course, feeling more confident will only increase your attractiveness to your spouse.  And, next thing you know, one thing leads to another ***wink, wink***.

3)  Richard Branson was once asked what he did to increase his productivity.  He simply stated, "Exercise."   Mayo Clinic has also stated that exercise boosts energy.

Because we're together everyday, it's easy to take marriage for granted.  Having two kids (a 4 and 2 year old) requires a lot of energy and it's so easy to put your spouse's needs in the back burner.  Marriage also has the tendency to lose its priority, the longer you have been together.  It takes energy to think about what your spouse needs and provide that for them.    Therefore, it takes ENERGY to keep the sparks sparkling in marriage.

4)  Exercise can be fun!  Exercising with your spouse can also be great quality time. My husband is a great motivator and always pushes me in the gym.  For all the women out there, having a spotter can help push you to lift more weight.  More muscle tone = increased metabolism...a great plus!

We have made fitness a MUST in our life.  Chiropractic is a healthy lifestyle and we incorporate it in all aspects of our lives.  We don't diet.  We enjoy food and even indulge every once in awhile.  We have made being healthy and staying healthy a priority.  So if you haven't already, start a fitness program, even if it is just a simple stroll in the park!

Giveaway: 60 min HOTSTONE Massage

What does a hotstone massage entail?
Hot stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the client's body of to maximize the therapeutic benefit. Our office utilizes the best stones, basalt stones, to increase the health benefits of this therapy. The high iron content in basalt helps the stones retain heat during the massage. These water-treated stones are placed at specific sites on the client's body to promote relaxation and to help open up the meridians (energy pathways). Muscles are pretreated with the heated stones to allow the therapist to more easily perform deep tissue manipulations.

What we eat!

On my last post, I talked about focusing on DIET when you want a flat tummy. Many people ask, "What do you eat?" Here is one of our favorite breakfast smoothies.
